VIRTRAIL RACE SERIES

5 Trails. 4 Months. 1 Awesome Challenge.

 

​A new trail race experience.
The Virtrail Race Series lets you compete on your own schedule while taking on five incredible trail routes. Choose to run each course or hike each course anytime during the series window, submit your results, and see how you stack up against the competition.

Your time from all five trails will be combined to determine the overall standings, with winners recognized at the final awards celebration. Not wanting to compete for time? No problem, take on the trails by hiking just to complete them all and inspire youself and others to explore the trails.

Series Dates: June 1 thru September 30

Registration Fee: $45 (includes a shirt, finisher award)

Placement and Awards Party: Friday, October 9th, evening. Location TBD

HOW IT WORKS

1. Register

Sign up for the Virtrail Race Series.

Series instructions and trails details will be emailed to you.

(Must be registered before times count.)

2. Complete All 5 Trails
Run or hike each official course anytime during the 4-month series.

 

3. Submit Your Results
Upload your time, date completed, and proof of completion.

 

4. We add up your times.

Anticipate how you compare to other participants.

 

5. Celebrate
Join us for the final awards party to see how you compare

to other participants and find out who

the top trail conquerors are.

THE TRAILS

Middle Fork Waterfall

Distance: 4.2 Miles

Elevation Gain: 1030 ft
Difficulty: Moderate
Starting Location: High Creek Canyon, Richmond, UT - Trailhead
A gradual climb along a creek with a rewarding waterfall at the turnaround.

Smithfield Canyon

Distance: 5.1 Miles

Elevation Gain: 600 ft
Difficulty: Moderate
Location: Smithfield Canyon Campground Parking Lot

Enjoy running along Summit Creek from the campground up to

the upper trailhead. Great trail to start with for the series.

Green Canyon

Distance: 7.5 Miles

Elevation Gain: 1000 ft

Difficulty: Moderate

A scenic canyon route with a gradual climb and descent. Because this popular trail normally doesn’t allow races, the US Forest Service has approved this special format.

Willow Creek & Little Cottonwood Creek

Distance: 6.4 Miles

Elevation Gain: 1100 ft

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

This loop course follows along the creek then across open meadows with amazing views, and then down a canyon path back to the start.

Steam Mill Lake

Distance: 9 Miles

Elevation Gain: 2000 ft

Difficulty: Moderate to hard (due to distance)

Climb through fir trees and quakies and alongside beautiful Steam Mill Creek as the trail leads to this small mountain lake and back.

Compete by overall combined time across all five trails.

FAQ

Do I have to complete the trails in order?
No—complete them in any order.

Can I do the trails more than once?
Yes! Run/hike them as many times as you would like to get your best time. Run/hike them each in spring, summer, and fall.

What counts as proof?
GPS activity screenshot, Strava upload, watch data, etc.

 

Can I hike instead of run?
You will choose 1 of 3 options for the series - run for time, hike for time, hike to complete

 

What's happening at the awards party?

Overall and age group winners will be announced, you'll get your race series shirt and finisher award.

Overall and age group placements will be announced

along with awards. Also food, fun and sharing trail experiences!
